Hi,

I see auto-start option for VMs. What about auto-shutdown? Will it work too outofbox? Sorry I don't have test system to play around (and don't have time to create one) and decided to throw question here.
Thanks!

Sortof.

Out-of-the-box bhyve will send a power-button signal to the VMs when FreeNAS itself is shutdown. If the VM responds to the power button by shutting down, then it will work nicely.

On some VMs you may need to configure ACPI power button handling to get this to work, but most should work.

The same signal is sent when you click the "Stop" button. So if that works, then it should.

Thanks for confirming! I was hoping to hear that. I have windows 2016 server and assume it should handle power-off signal nicely. Anyway I will try and if I will not see anything "red" in the events after reboot it will be a good sign.
Another factor, I assume, would be how fast guest system will shutdown as host will not be waiting forever.
