Hi,

Im pretty new to freenas but my 1.5TB drive is now full.
I now have a new 3TB drive but I don't know what's best.
Expanding the 1.5TB drive a 4.5TB volume( if 1 drive fails lete say the 1.5TB drive is all data then lost?)
Or just adding it as a new volume so then I would have a 1.5TB volume and a 3 TB volume so if 1 fails i still have the data of the other drive.(is this correct?)

Whats the best option?

Kind regards,
Fyver

Not sure what you are asking. Are you asking to add both drives to work under the same volume name creating a 6TB volume? Or just add an additional volume name and you would have 3TB additional space? Or making a mirror so you have 3TB total but if one drive fails you still have all your data?

You haven't mentioned if you are using ZFS or UFS for the file system, we need that data also in order to give you an answer.

Good luck in your endeavors.
