Being asked to enter network credentials before accessing a shared folder.

Hi,
I have just set up my old laptop with freenas, I have already logged into the online interface, chosen a root password, setup storage and a windows CIFS share. I am able to see the folder I created in under network in the my computer of windows, but when I try and access it I am asked to enter network credentials, of which I have tried everything I can think of including admin for username and password.

I am trying to access the folder from my current laptop, this is all on a home network, the laptop I am using has windows 8.1

Im very new to this so any help would be appreciated, I have already searched for ages and found nothing.

Perhaps you need to create a user, make it owner of your share, and use its credentials to authenticate.
