Could this be configured and turned on by default? Avahi can be configured by creating a .service file in /usr/local/etc/avahi/services/. Then the FreeNAS admin webpage can be quickly found when using Safari, Firefox/Chrome with the DNSSD extension, or other browsers such as Dolphin on KDE.
This would make using a headless box much easier as you would not need a monitor/keyboard for the initial setup. A checkbox could be added to the system-settings page to disable/enable as needed.
