generally not as well supported as chelsio. chelsio cards are what ships with enterprise TrueNAS often.
mellanox are better for windows and linux

That might be true but chelsio cards are very rare. At least in my country. And if there is something on the market it's very expensive. So for home use probably Mellanox/intel is better option due to availability and price.

I have yet to see any issue on this forum regarding an Intel NIC.
Go for Intel, you can find great deals on the used market. Just beware of chinese fakes

I don't know where you are. But if you have access to eBay, look up "solarflare sfp+"…
There are no known or reported fakes for Chelsio/Solarflare cards.
