I am shopping around for MBO and found some open box Asus server mother boards. Anyone have any experience with them? They're a bit cheaper than the Supermicro motherboards and offer 4x SATA3 2xSATA6 whereas the Supermicro offers that in a lot more expensive MBO.

Any comments on reliability? I am also wanting to use an i3 v4 in this. Since it's a 1150 socket it should work?

I have an ASUS P9D-M running here since December 1st. It has been rock solid and works very well once you disable usb-3. I haven't figured out how to use ipmi with the board yet, but it should support it.

Also be aware that wake on lan is not supported with the onboard intel-nic.

Looks like my build will be exactly your build. A bit off topic, but what RAM are you using? Can't find anything that says a specific model works with this MOBO.

I'm also checking this board for my build and comparing it to Asrock E3C226D2I /E3C224D2I.
Having 4 DIMMs on P9D-M is definitely a plus for me. But for IPMI, the board does have a dedicated management LAN but you have to get an optional module (ASMB7-iKVM) to enable it, when Asrock E3C boards have IPMI chips built in...
