Figured I'd post this here in case it could help someone else.
I'd been running FreeNAS 9.x for over a year just fine.
I just tried to update it it to 11.2-BETA2 and it was unable to boot from the ISO image on my USB:
"Insert boot disk and press any key to continue"
Booting to FreeDOS worked fine, so the USB stick and port were working.
I updated my BIOS from 1.3 to 2.6 and now everything works fine.
