Hey, i'm currently considering building another Freenas box.

Aside from using Plex the it's also my download station.

I'm on a home DOCSIS 3.1 cable connection at 500mbit speed.

I'm afraid the avoton CPU is not strong enough to run nzbget at full DL speed
from Usenet, (i get those speeds now with 1230v3), while also maintaining all other
"regular" fileserver needs and serving files using nfs/cifs and other plugins.

Should i be worried or is it ok to go with that board?
perhaps just get an Asrock ITX board with a xeon?

Thanks!

ps: my home network is fully 1GBit compatible using ubiquiti Edgerouter that can support 1GBit from wan-lan.

You do realize that the C2750 has 8 cores, and modern SMP schedulers (like what's in FreeBSD's kernel) are perfectly able to schedule tasks across multiple cores? I don't use sabnzbd on my FreeNAS box (same board), but as my understanding of it is that it's a Usenet downloader, I'd be surprised if you didn't max out the bandwidth to your Usenet provider before you reach the limit of one of the cores for downloading Usenet content. It's not like you're transcoding the video on the fly or anything while downloading. If you'd rather go with a Xeon E3 1230v3 (which will definitely give you more horsepower for transcoding tasks), I'm sure it would be fine, but I think you're overestimating the complexity of the task at hand.

I agree with demon 100%. I think you are underestimating what 8 cores can do.
