Hi there,

in my old nas I only have usb2.0.
I found those cheap pcie usb3.1 cards on ebay with this chipset
Anyone knows it it will work with freenas? Procedures n how install it?
I google it with freebsd and freenas without success!

thanks,

Why would you even consider such a thing? What do you hope to accomplish?

I use to connect my 2.5" external drive to it (temporally to backup) and usb2 take tooo much time :)
my equipment is a hp microserver G7 with 4x3Tb running freenas "FreeNAS-9.2.0-RELEASE-x64 (ab098f4)"
and as I said only has usb2..

Can't you get an esata enclosure and do the same? AFAIK microservers have esata.
Esata is much faster and much more reliable than usb..
Just a thought...

I see...
I thought that disk was only for the microserver backup.
In this case you can get an enclosure which supports both usb and esata and you should be fine...
Or two; one usb and one esata and you plug the disk in either one.
For example this one
