Apple TV2 and FreeNAS?

Hi;

Just started a thread ref setting up plugins, I especially would like to use my FreeNAS as an iTunes server and was planning to connect using my AppleTV 2 however I have been reading that Firefly does not work with AplleTV2's handshake Homesharing? Bummer - maybe its time to jailbreak my Apple TV - if so which Jailbreak works with FreeNAS 8.2 and Firefly?

Hi JonnyAlpha,

Jailbreak your AppleTV2 with Seas0nPass or similar and install XBMC - I have found this to be the best solution for my needs so far. You can browse media shares over your network without needing to install and configure additional plugins on your freenas box.

Thanks cubix - I have previously thought about jailbreaking my Apple TV2 and now need to do so to use it with free NAS. As AppleTV is a mac ios product I take it i'll need to set up an AFP share, problem is since upgrading to FreeNAS 8.3 I have only been able to set up and acces a Windows Share.

XBMC can browse both NFS and CIFS shares :)
