I created a new volume /mnt/vol1
created a guest user (id 1001), group ID 'guest'
made the home directory for guest /mnt/vol1
permissions: read, write, execute (owner, group and other) all ticked
Services section:
CIFS setup is as follows:
Authentication: anonymous
local master (ticked)
guest account: guest
send files with sendfile(2) (ticked)
support DOS file attribs (ticked)
CIFS configuration section:
windows share: name ***x
path: /mnt/vol1
browsable to network clients, inherit owner, inherit permissions, allow guest access - all ticked
I can copy files to the share, make directories, copy files to directories but sometimes cannot rename files once copied!!?
Also sometimes (after a reboot of the system) the guest user permissions will not be ticked for "group" and "other" in the write section (so only OWNER is ticked).
it's quite annoying - what have I done wrong?!?
