Hi All,

First post here on the forum, long time lurker.

We are looking at putting together a NAS for 4-6 (but scaleable) video editors.
So far, i am looking at the following hardware

Dell R540
Xeon Silver 4210 2.2G 10C
256GB RAM
6 Ironwolf Pro 16TB HDDs
10GB Network card (not chosen yet)

We would like 2 drive failure redundancy.

We will expand the storage over time, the server will support 12LFF disks. Once the bays are filled up, we would add in an MD1400.

So my questions would be:
What Read/Write speeds would we roughly be looking at for media files?
Would there be any benefit of getting 2x 1.92TB PM1653a SSDs for SLOG/L2ARC? Or alternatively, creating a mirrored 1.92TB scratch disk for the editors to work directly off, then when they are finished with a project, move their files over to HDD. They are mostly editing in 4/6k with Premier.

What would be the best way to setup vdevs? The array needs to be expandable, however we wouldn't need more than 2 drive redundancy, so if we added another 6 disks, we wouldn't want 4 redundant drives.

Sorry if i have missed any important bits of info out! Any advice or 'watch out for..' would be greatly appreciated
