I have the datasets as below - I've copied all data from FREENAS2TB into main Media dataset and wish to delete. Samba shows no files listed under the directories as they've been moved however I was concerned about the data usage still reflecting old data stored within before proceeding with destroying.

Anyone able to offer some reassurance? - Thank you.

Have a look at zfs list -t snapshot | grep Media

If it was really empty, it might have a few KB consumed by metadata, but for it to be using TB, there must be something. You might want to go into the shell and actually look in the directory. It could be snapshots like @sretalla suggests, or it might be some hidden files. I would want to know for sure before deleting the dataset.

Apologies for the delay - sretalla was correct it was the snapshots. Cleared those and as Chris states the usage dropped to a few KB. All deleted and cleared quite a few TB along with adusting show often snapshots happen now I have a better understanding of them with my usage profile.

Thanks everyone.
