Hello

Not sure it is "proper" to post about beta here but I am having a hard time setting up AFP under 8.2 beta 4.

I am trying to follow the instructions as described here

http://doc.freenas.org/index.php/Apple_(AFP)_Shares

but whenever I get to the point of setting user & group ownership (point 1 "A ZFS volume named /mnt/data has its permissions set to the built-in nobody user account and nobody group") I get an error "this field is required":

Not sure what I am missing here of is it "simply" a bug ?

I encountered the same bug when attempting to set permissions on my dataset (and strangely enough, only on the one I intended for AFP.) From what I could tell playing around with the Firefox extension Tamper Data, for some reason the permission variable(s) aren't included in the POST back to the server.

In any case, I just rebooted FreeNAS and then the permission changes started working again.

I had similar results to SteveBuscemi, I had problem creating a user because of errors about permissions and a reboot fixed it.

I have have the same problems with 8.2b4 and it must be a bug. Tried every webbrowser there is, rebooting, reinstalling, flushing cache. Different OSX versions on my MacBook Pro etc etc.

Had to go back to 8.0.4 and now all is fine.

No but I am just about to because I have huge problems transferring large amount of files under MAc OSX 10.7.4 as well. One big file ok but more than a few will cause problems. Had to go back to 10.6.8 to make it work again. Apple has made changes I think and heard to the AFP in 10.7 so it all sucks right now. Back to 10.6.8 and back to FreeNAS 8.0.4. Well well life is a challenge in the Linux world.
