Using ATAIdle, I can spin down my disks, but with the GUI interface and setting the disks to spin down after 10 minutes idle, they don't spin down automatically.
Is there anything in the default settings for the 8.0.4-Release version that would prevent them from spinning down (such as automatic array-scrubing? smart checking, etc).
Only services I have enabled are CIFS and SSH. I turned on Powerd. Created a couple users, created a ZFS array, and 4 datasets, and modified the owner-group on them along with setting some other permissions.
I've not set anything else on there that I can think of that would cause this.
I have a KillAWatt attached, without the server plugged in, the other equipment is using around 21w. With it plugged in, it's using around 90w, though it peaks with some activity (not much - goes up to around 95w) - after spin down (manually), it drops to around 40w.
When it comes to a home server, 40w vs 21w vs 90w...that ads up to $ per month! :)
