Weird one for you hardware guys...

A little while ago while recommending some cheap SSD boot drives for FreeNas; I came across a deal on eBay. So naturally (having to feed my hardware addiction and all) I bought a few for myself.

So SSDs arrive and half the order (2 out of 4) have this printed sticker on them that says "48 BIT DISABLED". Now, I will get around to hooking them up and doing a burn in; but does anyone know what would be entailed by this? Wondering if it has anything to do with TRIM or DisableDeleteNotify on Win 7?

Here is a picture for info:

Hi Mirfster,

My first guess would be 48 bit LBA addressing. Maybe poke them with one of the SSD info utils on a windows box & see if they differ at all...

Heh....

So I found a manual for these here:

http://pdfstream.manualsonline.com/2/208b9ab1-92f8-4769-b0a3-9dc23eec0cde.pdf

It looks like there is a SATA bridge chip to an ATA controller in there so LBA addressing could explain the sticker.
