Hi All,

I have to configure new storage that will require around 80TB from 24x4TB disk
My question is vdev wise what is more recommended if i need to set layout as close as possible to 80TB
Configuration that will give me most safe/performance with given config , i am hesitating between
3x8 raid z1 or 2x12 raid z2 , what would be most recommended?
Please advise
Thanks

an 8 Drive RAIDZ1 is not advised, nor is a 12 drive RAIDZ2. The likelihood of the second (or third) failure occuring in the time to resilver is just too great. Unless you have nearline backups, you should rethink your strategy.

More drives or bigger drives. Or replicated backups and the 2x12RAID-Z2 option.

it also depends how many vdevs for IO performance are needed. without knowing your expected workload, we need a magic 8ball

I suggest create Raidz2 or Raidz3 .Because your pool degrade , it will rebuild very long time....
