I am liking FreeNAS 11.3, the interface is clean and easy to use. I upgraded from 11.2 yesterday online, and made a new pool (I wanted to anyway, I could have kept my old one). Currently moving data back on to the new one.
I like that datasets now aren't "Windows" or "Unix"; I was able to set up SSH public key authentication from Linux Mint and Samba from Windows 10 easily. I have both to back up to my server.
Also, the Fractal Design Node 804 case is my favorite FreeNAS case, it's smaller but easy to work in, and I fit eight hard drives in with plenty of fans blowing air across them.
I've confirmed that my UPS shuts down the system cleanly. I have scrub and smart tests set up, and email notifies me. Anything else that I'm forgetting? This is a backup server only, no streaming.
