Can no longer edit ACL's via Windows client on TrueNAS 13

Hi All,

Is it just me or can you no longer create/edit ACL's from a Windows client on TrueNAS 13? It appears (at least for me) that you are forced to make all changes via the TrueNAS UI as any changes I make via Windows vanish as soon as I hit apply without any error.

Is that by design?

Thanks

I have just spent nearly a week bashing my head against this exact issue.

If it's by design it's utterly braindamaged. No errors that I can find either on the client or server, and very little information about it. There's a reddit thread somewhere hinting at something similar, but I'm astounded more people haven't experienced this.

Installing 12U8 until we can prove this has been properly addressed. This has been one of the most frustrating weeks I can recall - absolutely infuriating!

Same problem here. Nearly a week without my server back.
Since Im never changed ACL by command, can someone confirm if my command is still being processed or got stuck? I ran winacl -a clone -rv -p /mnt/BackupsC/BackupsC, after ajusting root's ACL, and appears to going well at first, but now stopped on this file(attachment) for some hours. Should I try again or wait some more?

You should be careful about long-running commands in the web shell. This should be done through proper SSH or console access. There is upcoming hotpatch for ACL issues in 13.0-U1.

Excellent to know, but it would be great for something (anything!) to be there as an errata / limitations on the 13.0-U1 download page. It'd have saved me a week! Thanks for all the hard work though - it is appreciated!

It's a developing situation. As mentioned there will be a hotfix release, but I'm getting user feedback on the proposed fix so that we can get it nailed down ASAP. We should have the release notes updated soonish once I have concrete guidance for affected users.

Thanks @anodos that seems to work. It does however retain the quirk that when I add a user or group to the ACL via the Windows client the 'Everyone' group is always applied with no access which is unusual as you could normally just remove that group but it won't let me no matter what I do.

Hmm... I'll take a look at that later. It shouldn't be visible.
