Will updating from FreeNAS 11.3 to TrueNAS help fix networking, jail, plugin issues?

I built my NAS, installed FreeNAS 11.0, upgraded a couple of times, installed PLEX and everything was working great for a number of years. THEN my boot thumbdrive went belly-up and I was unable to locate my backup. I created another usb boot, imported my drives. I can access FreeNAS GUI, access my data from Windows. However, I am not able to add jails, or plugins such as Plex. I have searched forums, tweaked, pinged, rebooted, for days to no avail. If I update to TrueNAS and not use my current config, will this fix my issues? Or do you see something SIMPLE that I have overlooked? (Screenshots attached.) I have TrueNAS iso ready to go and an SSD available, but, if it won't help, I don't want to update.

I think I'd want to try and fix the problem before upgrading, but that's just me. I found the jails that were fully up to date in 11.3-U5 upgraded on 12.0-U1 cleaner than the ones that were out of date before I upgraded. I guess it depends how important it is to upgrade them over reduilding them?

It's hard to tell what might be going on from those screenshots, but I did see you have an iocage and jail dataset. Could the problem be related to this, or is this typical of a config using jails and plugins?

I haven't the faintest! I was unable to access the previous Plex Jail and had deleted it, thinking a fresh install would fix it. After deleting, I was no longer able to install the plugin. Error: Plex had a failure Exception: RuntimeError Message: No default interface found Partial plugin destroyed. Same with trying to manually add a Jail (for manual Plex install.)

I am thinking there is a problem with my network configuration since I am unable to access FreeNAS System Updates Error: Unable to connect to url https://update-master.ixsystems.com/FreeNAS/trains.txt: Automatic update check failed. Please check system network settings. I have my router IP address as the IPv4 Default Gateway and NameServers 8.8.8.8. & 8.8.4.4 . Any suggestions?

Network --> Global Settings. Check the default gateway and DNS server settings.

"Default interface" in jail configuration (plugins are jails) depends on one of your interfaces having a default route associated with it.

The Router IP is 192.168.42.18 which I entered as the default gateway. HOWEVER, when I ping it from Shell, I get "Host is down".

I haven't any jails installed. Should the Jails Dataset listed in the Pool "Mirror1" be deleted?

Plugins are jails. They don't work if your default router and DNS don't work. You need to be able to ping your default router.

BTW how do you get the "SHOW" links into your signature? Need to do that for my build info. instead of what I've got.
