  • There will be a migration script from warden to iocage.
How is the migration script going to work? Is is creating a fresh iocage jail on the basis of the new base system and then transferring all the data/configuration over, or is it just adjusting/patching the old warden jail to work with iocage?

Good question. @Kris Moore, at a convenient time, could you have the dev in charge of that explain what the migration script entails, exactly?

Hey,
I just had a look to the documentation, section "upgrading":
http://doc.freenas.org/11/install.html#upgrading

Before attemping to upgrade, quote:
Upgrading the firmware of Avago SAS HBAs to the latest version is recommended

Does this mean it is no longer necessary to match SAS firmware version number minus 1 to SAS driver version number (e.g. driver 13, firmware 12)?

It means that everyone just gave up on the insanity and the approach now is to trust that LSI/Broadcom/Avago won't introduce significant incompatibilities in either end. SAS2 is no longer in active development, so the most recent versions follow whatever stupid rule is needed. For SAS3, keep the firmware updated.

FreeNAS-11.1-PRERELEASE is the update to BETA?
Yes, that is the train for BETA1.

Duck into 11.1-Beta1 as VM and iocage jails are in. After a little fiddling my iocage jails are working well under vnet, though jail and config has to be setup up from CL, as the new UI is not quite handling them yet.
But thank you!

I upgraded to 11.1-BETA1 but I'm still seeing the "old" new UI. Is there a setting to get it to look like the screenshot in the announcement?

EDIT: I rebooted again, and it switched to the new UI after about 10 minutes.

While using the new GUI Shell screen, I noticed that if I enter any number that the shell stops responding. Very odd. Bug report submitted. Also I don't like the need to use both GUI's to work on jails. I'm sure this will be corrected.

I kinda understand that they are going for a materialdesign UI which i think is a good thing, however why are two different red colors used for used and free space?

The UI team is using different shades instead of different colors to make things easier for colorblind people.

yeah, problem is, i have a strong deutroanomaly (which is not colorblindness but strong red and green issues) and these colors look extremely similar. so i am not sure what to tell you, besides its not really working for me :D, the graphs afterwards are also not really working for me.

Well, file a bug report to help guide the UI team. Maybe they can come up with some alternative. Or maybe it's best to have several sets of colorblind themes for different limitations with color vision.

I agree with @Ericloewe, file a bug against it.

There already is a bug for a high contrast theme. So, the intent is to support various vision issues. It may take time, as many other things must come first, (data loss prevention, security, critical functionality, etc...). Work with the developers. Everything you do, not only helps you, but will help others with similar vision issues.

Is there any plans to be 508 compliant?

So is there going to still be two separate jail systems warden/iocage in the final 11.1 release?
