Free Nas 8 + VLC, is it Possible??

So.. I have been thinking of making a FN8 home server, and then I was thinking... Could it also be used to play videos? Could VLC be added to FN8 and use my motherboard's HDMI out to play videos on my TV?

Not really, freenas is an embeded system with no xserver to play videos. It's for network storage, usually you'd have a frontend to play movies like an htpc, or a raspberrypi
