[Home](https://www.truenas.com) › **TrueNAS Is First on the New Veeam Ready All-In-One Virtual Appliance List**

TrueNAS is the first storage platform certified under the newest Veeam Ready Appliance category: All-In-One (virtualized). It’s built for servers that run the Veeam Software Appliance (VSA) directly, instead of just sitting behind it as a repository target. As of September 18, 2026, [Veeam’s qualifications page](https://www.veeam.com/solutions/alliance-partner/integrations-qualifications.html?type%5B%5D=all-in-one-%28virtualized%29) lists exactly two systems under that category, and both are TrueNAS: the [TrueNAS F-Series](https://www.truenas.com/f-series/) and the [TrueNAS V-Series](https://www.truenas.com/v-series/). Both High Availability (HA) and Single Controller versions are available, with the TrueNAS H-Series in progress for certification for smaller deployments.

Enterprise procurement teams check Veeam Ready listings before a vendor gets anywhere near an RFP. Until now, storage and the Veeam server were certified separately, if the server was certified at all. All-In-One Virtualized validates the combination TrueNAS already ships: the VSA running as a virtual machine (VM) directly on the array.

## What the Veeam Software Appliance is

The Veeam Software Appliance (VSA) is a hardened Linux image that packages Veeam Backup & Replication, a backup proxy, and a hardened repository role into one deployable guest, so you get a working Veeam server without hand-building one on Windows or Linux first – significantly reducing the risks of accidental misconfiguration while also enabling best practices like automatic software updates and secure defaults out of the box.

On TrueNAS hardware, the VSA software runs as a VM under TrueNAS Data Hypervisor, the platform’s built-in virtualization layer. Its boot disk and its backup repository are both zvols – ZFS’s native block-storage volumes – protected by the same self-healing storage and automated checksums as every other bit saved to TrueNAS. Once deployed as a VM on TrueNAS and given network settings, the standard Veeam’s web console and Help Center take it from there, allowing you to configure jobs, policies, and replication – just like a standard Veeam B&R install.

## What Changes versus a Traditional Veeam Deployment

| | **Traditional Veeam stack** | **VSA on TrueNAS** |
|---------------|---------------------------------------------------------------------|-------------------------------------------------|
| Backup server | Separate Windows or Linux host to size, purchase, harden, and patch | Hardened Veeam Software Appliance VM |
| Repository | Often a separate NAS, SAN, or disk shelf | Backup-storage zvol on the same TrueNAS system |
| Certification | Storage and backup server certified separately, if at all | Veeam Ready Appliance, All-In-One (virtualized) |

All-In-One Virtualized is built for single-site, appliance-minded teams who’d rather not run and patch a second server just to host Veeam. TrueNAS can also serve as a high-performance platform during the Veeam Instant Recovery process, presenting file or block storage to hypervisors alongside the VSA to shorten recovery times.

A virtual appliance on TrueNAS also helps provide additional resiliency – with a separate physical Veeam server, it means a separate system that requires a spares kit, redundant power, and a contingency plan in case of disk corruption. A VSA on TrueNAS also gets a resiliency edge a physical Veeam server doesn’t: ZFS’s self-healing checksums protect the appliance’s own data the same way they protect your backups, preventing data corruption from impacting the underlying operating system. TrueNAS appliances with High-Availability (HA) strengthen this even further, with 99.999% uptime on the appliance and the ability to automatically restart the Veeam VSA virtual machine in controller failover scenarios.

TrueNAS first covered our deployment mechanics for this in [TrueNAS Enables Turnkey Cyber-Resilience with Veeam](https://www.truenas.com/blog/truenas-veeam-v13-cyber-resilient-backup/), giving early adopters of the new Veeam technology a path to success, with our step-by-step [Veeam Software Appliance documentation](https://www.truenas.com/docs/solutions/integrations/veeam-software-appliance/) covering everything from zvol sizing to first boot.

Veeam’s Ready Appliance program requires passing every compatibility and functional test, plus extensive performance testing for backup and restore operations. TrueNAS’s F-Series and V-Series both cleared it, and both now carry the All-in-one, Backup Target – Disk DAS, and Immutability tags. Procurement teams can verify that listing themselves, directly on Veeam’s site.

## Who This is For

This fits TrueNAS Enterprise teams that want fewer boxes to manage and a certification they can point to in a security or procurement review. It also fits admins who’d rather deploy a sealed Veeam appliance image than build a backup server by hand.

If you’re already running a large proxy farm, or your hypervisor design needs transport options the appliance doesn’t support yet, talk to your account team about sizing the consolidated path against that topology before you commit.

Once you determine your required backup capacity and VSA size using the Veeam Sizing Guide, we’ll help you configure and select the right TrueNAS appliance to match your workload.

If you’re already running TrueNAS Enterprise, your account team can help you size a VSA deployment on hardware you own. If you’re evaluating TrueNAS for the first time, our sales team can walk you through it.

## FAQ

**What is Veeam Ready Appliance All-In-One Virtualized?**
A subcategory of Veeam’s Ready Appliance program for servers certified to run the Veeam Software Appliance directly as a VM, rather than only serving as a backup repository target.

**Is TrueNAS actually first?**
Yes. As of September 22, 2026, TrueNAS’s F-Series and V-Series are the only two systems listed under All-In-One (Virtualized) on Veeam’s qualifications page.

**Do I still need a separate backup server?**
No. On this path, the VSA guest is the backup server, and its storage lives on zvols on the same TrueNAS system. Distributed Veeam deployments are still fully supported when your design calls for them.

**Where do I find the deployment steps?**
[TrueNAS Enables Turnkey Cyber-Resilience with Veeam](https://www.truenas.com/blog/truenas-veeam-v13-cyber-resilient-backup/) and the [Veeam Software Appliance documentation](https://www.truenas.com/docs/solutions/integrations/veeam-software-appliance/) cover VM sizing, zvol setup, and first boot.
